Abstract

Skeletal Class III malocclusion can be treated with camouflage treatment when the skeletal discrepancy is mild and surgical approach is not required. A 23-year-old male patient showed skeletal Class III with hypodivergent pattern, anterior crossbite, deep bite, and moderate-to-severe crowding. Anterior crossbite was corrected with extraction of the mandibular first premolars and bite raising. After proper overjet was established, the maxillary first premolars were extracted to relieve severe crowding. Extraction spaces were closed with power chain and Class III elastics. After the orthodontic treatment, the patient showed proper overjet and overbite with harmonious upper and lower lip. Due to extrusion of the maxillary posterior teeth by Class III elastics, the mandible rotated downward and backward, which had an effect on increase of the lower anterior facial height and improvement of chin prominence.
